İşbank conducts efficiency projects to minimize the environmental impact of its operations. An Environmental Management System in international standards has been established at the Bank in 2019. In line with international standards, various environmental indicators are monitored at the Head Office buildings and branches and all wastes are separated and recycled in the Head Office and TUTOM buildings within the scope of ISO14001 Environmental Management System Standard.

İşbank's main buildings such as the Head Office, operations center and data center were designed to minimize the environmental impacts. caused by the operations of Bank.

İşbank Head Office building located in Levent, İstanbul holds the BREEAM In-use Excellent certificate.

Tuzla Technology and Operations Center (TUTOM) obtained the LEED Gold certificate in 2017.

The Bank's Tuzla Data Center (Atlas) Building has been certified with LEED v4 Gold for Data Centers. Atlas is the first data center at these standards in Turkey.

Energy consumption is reduced by using the energy, which is generated during cooling in Atlas Data Center building, for the heating of office areas. At Atlas Data Center, the data halls where IT cabinets are located are air-cooled uninterruptedly with packet type cooling devices based on the principle of redundancy,. After the cabinets are cooled, the heated air is mixed with the outdoor air and used for heating the air conditioning systems; thus, energy is saved.

İşbank aims to use energy and resources efficiently in order to reduce the environmental impact of its service buildings and carries out such efficiency activities with a continuous improvement approach.

Focusing on using natural resources responsibly and minimising the impact on the environment while conducting its activities, İşbank has ISO 14001 Environmental Management System certification at all its locations by the end of 2022 in order to reduce environmental impact and build an environmental management system in line with international standards.

In addition, the lighting, heating - cooling system and domestic water systems have been modernised and replaced with more energy-efficient models.

İşbank continues its efforts to reduce the amount of paper used in operations through digitalization projects. With the project launched by İşbank together with the TEMA Foundation in 2012, Bank delivers paper waste to the TEMA Foundation, and the Foundation plants a sapling for each 100 kg of paper donated.

Digital approval of product contracts and application forms, non-Bank Registered Electronic Mail (KEP) sending was made available to the entire Bank, and digital signature application on receipts was put into effect.

With the digitalization of various contracts, 1.56 million contracts, equivalent to 21.6 million pages, were saved annually.

1 The emission and consumption data reported in 2018 included the Head Office buildings, all domestic branches and regional directorates, and in 2019, the Atlas Data Center was also added to this data. The increase in electricity consumption in 2019 was partly due to the inclusion of the data center.

2 Since the electricity consumption is IREC-certified, Scope 2 emissions are calculated as “0”. In 2022, the amount of energy generated from renewable energy sources accounted for 100% of the total energy consumption.

3 Represents the amount of drinking water consumed in the Head Office buildings. Drinking water for these buildings is supplied by tankers, carboys, and bottled water, and it has been monitored since 2021. In service buildings with ISO14001 certification, drinking water is supplied by bottled and carboy water.

4 2018-2019-2020 data only includes the Head Office buildings. 2021 and 2022 data includes the Head Office buildings as well as the service buildings with ISO 14001 certification.

5 The total amount of recycled waste consists of recycled non-hazardous wastes, recycled hazardous wastes, paper wastes and electronic wastes, and includes the data of the Head Office buildings.

6 The breakdown of recycled non-hazardous and hazardous waste amounts by waste type was started as of 2022, and the reported data includes the data of the Head Office buildings.

According to the measurement made on 31.12.2021 from the solar panels installed on 01.03.2013 in our Nevşehir Branch, a total of 37 thousand kWh of electrical energy has been produced in 8 years. As of 31.12.2021, 3.112 kWh of electrical energy has been produced.

As part of our efforts to reduce our environmental footprint, in 2022, 122,651 MWh of electricity was purchased from renewable energy sources.

In line with our aim to actively manage the environmental and social impacts arising from our supply chain, we have formulated a Supplier Questionnaire which consists of questions encompassing environment, ethics, sustainable procurement and human&employee rights in 2021.

Within the scope of ISO 14001 Environmental Management System, the certification process of 847 locations was completed as of the end of 2021. By the end of 2020, the ratio of certified locations to the Bank's total locations is 32%, by the end of 2021 the ratio is 63% and by the end of 2022, this ratio is 100%.
