Sustainability Milestones

2022

We published our first Integrated Annual Report.
We became a member of the Net-Zero Banking Alliance.
We became a member of the 30% Club.
We have put the Diversity Policy of the Board of Directors into effect with the Board decision.
We have joined the Bloomberg Gender Equality Index.
We have joined the BIST Sustainability 25 Index.  
Our CDP Climate Change Report Leadership Score: “A-" Leadership Category.​
Our CDP Water Security Report Score: “B" Governance Category​.

2021

We are the first Turkish bank to exclude financing gold mining by using cyanide. It has been declared that activities of gold mining by using cyanide and new coal mine investments will not be financed by our Bank through adding these conditions to the Exclusion List in the Annex of our Bank's Environmental and Social Impact Policy.
We signed the first sustainability-linked syndicated loan agreement.
We established our Sustainable Finance Framework.
We have started to use renewable energy in all of the Bank's operational areas where renewable energy is able to be supplied for electricity consumption.
Our Environmental and Social Impact Evaluation Model "CESMOD" was developed.
We have taken the Gender Equality Policy into effect with the decision of the Board of Directors.
We have created the Climate Change Risk Policy, which deals with the management of climate change risks that we may be exposed as a result of our activities.
We have initiated reporting within the scope of Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) Water Security Program.

2020

The fact that our Bank will not lend "Loans for financing greenfield investments of coal- and natural gas-fired thermal power plants" has been announced by adding these types of loans to the Exclusion List included in the Annex of our Bank's Environmental and Social Impacts Policy.
We established a Sustainability Committee which operates under the Board of Directors.
We formed our Sustainable Bonds Framework.
As part of our efforts to reduce our environmental footprint, our Bank set its medium and long-term emission reduction targets within the scope of "Science Based Targets" (SBT) in 2020 and revealed its plan to be carbon neutral.
We received an ESG risk rating from Sustainalytics which is one of the most reputable rating companies in the world.
We became a signatory of the UN Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEPs).
We became a signatory of the United Nations Environment Program Finance Initiative (UNEP FI) Responsible Banking Principles.


2019

We issued the first Green Bond which is the first 100% Green Eurobond transaction executed by Turkish banks.
We published our first Integrated Report presenting our environmental, social and governance performance from an integrated perspective.
Environmental Management System (ISO 14001) which is in line with international standards has been established in our bank.
We started reporting within the scope of the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) Climate Change Program.


2018

İşbank's Tuzla Data Center (Atlas) Building, has obtained LEED v4 Gold for Data Centers with its high technological and security standards alongside with its environment-friendly nature.

2017

We signed the Global Compact Turkey Declaration on Sustainable Finance.
Tuzla Technology and Operations Center (TUTOM) obtained the LEED Gold green building certificate.


2016

We have been listed in the "FTSE4Good Emerging Markets Index" since 2016.

2015

Sustainability Management System which enables managing the environmental and social impacts of İşbank, evaluating the environmental and social impacts arising from lending activities and continuously improving the human resource potential through trainings, with an integrated and systematic perspective was constituted.
We have been listed in the “BIST Sustainability Index” since 2015.
Our Head Office building has obtained the international BREEAM In-use Excellent certificate.


2014

Within the scope of efforts to establish a Sustainability Management System, Sustainability, Environmental and Social Impacts, Human Rights and Human Resources, Anti-bribery and Anti-corruption, Gifts and Hospitality Policies and Supplier Code of Conduct have been approved by the Board of Directors.

2012

We published our first Sustainability Report.
As per the resolution of the Board of Directors, we signed the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC), which is a call for companies to increase the contribution of the business world to global sustainability efforts.
We have been evaluating environmental and social risks of investment projects by the Environmental and Social Risk Evaluation Tool (ERET) since 2012.
